Six reasons to venture into the world of BEMS
Want to become an engineer? Or perhaps you’re looking for a change of direction?
Venture into the world of autonomous smart buildings. An up-and-coming industry, where the fast-evolving technology is only outpaced by market growth. Today, more and more businesses are looking to us for help cutting their carbon emissions.
Getting into this industry has never been so important. Here’s six reasons you should join us as building energy management system (BEMS) apprentice or fast track engineer.
Go behind the scenes in some fascinating places
At Kendra, we cover everything from airports and hospitals to football clubs and tourist hot spots. No two days are the same, so if you want variety over routine, it’s an ideal career choice.
Change the world for the better
Creating IoT-connected smart buildings is big business. The BEMS industry has ballooned over the last few years with no sign of slowing down. Largely because it addresses a huge global issue – the carbon footprint of buildings.
Worldwide, buildings are responsible for 40% of the Earth’s carbon emissions and here in the UK, 25% of our total emissions come from buildings. So here’s your chance to tackle the climate crisis head-on and get paid for it!
Learn from the best
Learn from an award-winning team. We’ve won numerous awards and accolades, from bagging ‘Best Service and Maintenance Provider’ THREE times at the prestigious BCIA Awards to becoming one of only four UK ‘Master EcoXperts’.
Aside from our winnings, it’s fair to say our people – and your future teachers – know their stuff. Not only will you get one-to-one mentored support, but you’ll be surrounded by a large network of supportive BEMS engineers.
Even the systems we work on are extensive compared to most other BEMS providers. So if you want to soak up as much knowledge as possible, you’ve come to the right place.
Get excellent training
Training is mostly hands on but as far as course-based learning goes, you’ll get the best the industry has to offer. Including courses from big names such as Schneider Electric, Honeywell and the BCIA.
Here at Kendra, our people are our biggest asset. So to keep you – and the business – ahead of the curve, we invest a lot into training. It means we can all stay on top of the last technology and developments.
Even after you qualify, expect to get an average of eleven training days a year. But there’s always extra courses and opportunities for those who want it. Not to mention tailored personal development plans.
Bag a tempting rewards package
Trainees start at an industry standard salary, which is competitive compared to other engineering disciplines. However, if you’ve got the right attitude and work ethic, you’ll receive an even better package. That’s because, unlike many of our competitors, we offer incremental increases based on ability and attitude.
Once you’ve qualified as a BEMS engineer, you’ll either get a company car with EV options (we’re moving towards an electric fleet) or you’ll get your milage covered. Plus private healthcare for you and your family.
For a full list of perks, including a discounted gym membership, check out our jobs page.
Strike a good work/life balance
You’ll work as close to home as possible to minimise travelling. That way, you won’t miss out on family or ‘you’ time. Occasionally, a client’s project will overrun; it’s an unavoidable part of working in this industry. However, when this happens, it’s up to you whether you earn overtime or take back hours as time off in lieu.
